Hello, I am doing some research into some old London drinking fountains (the Jabez West in particular) Could I contact you regarding the research?

You may but be aware that my research and knowledge is specific to cast iron fountains.

Whilst searching the history of the Cast Iron ‘Victoria Fountain’ (Brighton) we are currently repairing/remanufacturing I came across your site. You may be interseted to learn of the service available for the repair/remanufacture of Cast Iron structures, bridges, street furniture, fountains etc.

Not sure which fountain you are referencing as I don’t believe I have blogged a fountain in Brighton. There is one in Cleethorpes which was relocated within the town to Brighton Street. Is this the one you are referring to? I’d be interested in seeing a photo of the restoration and will update my blog with it.

We have a restored Glenfield and Kennedy street fountain in our village — Garnouth in Moray, NE Scotoand. It is plumbed in and working. It dates from 1899 when a piped water supply first came to the village. We have a second identical one, also restored but not yet plumbed in. We have a book on the history of the village water supply and the street fountains that were installed. There are also other examples of G&K fountains nearby.
